The Marianist Characteristic of Adaptation and Change means that Purcell Marian works to educate us for the future, to help us learn to work together, embrace diversity, and persist through adversity. This means we were taught that the world is always changing and we are given the tools to grow and adapt for success and the good of all; even when we are faced with new challenges.

In my time at the Castle, I have adapted to many changes. Most importantly, my perspective on life and faith has changed as a result of my incredible experiences in this school and in attending and leading Kairos. Over time, I also learned to change how I saw myself and to embrace my qualities as a leader, a student, and an athlete. My teachers, coaches, and peers have helped me to adapt successfully while I have been here by nominating me as a student leader and helping me to build connections.

I was nervous that I would have to change myself to fit in. But I quickly found out that this place is remarkably welcoming, from the classroom to the football field and everything in between. I realized that I could just be myself and that the people and the community here would help me be my best and adapt.

My classmates' joy made me grin even on my darkest days when I walked into the building. I have made so many great friends at this school, who I know will have my back through all the changes in life, no matter what. Teachers at Purcell Marian have treated me like their son and shown me they want what's best for me.

There were times I did not want to go for the college dream because I didn't think I was capable, but this school gave me hope and the courage to change my mindset and go for it. The faculty and students challenged me to use my abilities to the fullest. Religion class and our school Masses, discussions, and retreats have also altered my understanding of God and encouraged me to pray and grow in my own faith. I have had many opportunities here that have allowed me to change and grow for the better. Purcell Marian is somewhere I didn't imagine myself at first, but I'm glad changes in my life brought me here. My time at the Castle has brought about a transformation in me that has changed my entire life, and has prepared me for the big changes as I go forward in life. I am grateful for the time I have had here, and I am ready to see what our futures hold.
