Dear Purcell Marian Community,
I am so excited to be joining the family as your new President. In many ways, this position marks a homecoming for me. I was born near Akron and graduated from the University of Dayton, where I met the Marianists. They have played an essential role in my faith and professional life and taught me so much about living as a member of a community where everyone can find a place.
I feel that same community here at Purcell Marian. It is more than a high school; it is a home where students discover where they truly belong, and I am thrilled to be part of this mission and help carry it forward.
Leadership in Catholic education means shaping vision into strategy, one rooted in mission and responsive to the community’s gifts and needs. That begins with listening. I am eager to hear from students, parents, faculty, alumni, and all who invest their hearts into Purcell Marian. Your voices will help forge a shared vision that meets challenges and opportunities with purpose, ensuring that our school continues to thrive as a beacon of academic and spiritual formation.
As President, I look forward to celebrating our rich legacy alongside you, engaging with alumni from all of our family of schools - St. Mary, Regina, Marian, Purcell, and now Purcell Marian - and working together to build an even stronger future.
I am so glad to be able to play a leading role in helping to advance the mission of Purcell Marian as we look to celebrate our centenary and prepare for our second hundred years.
Together. Onward Cavaliers!
Dr. Ted Whapham
President, Purcell Marian High School
