Purcell Marian High School is hiring a Major & Planned Gifts Officer to join our historic and thriving school as we approach our 100-year anniversary on Hackberry Street.  This is a full-time 12 month position. The Major & Planned Gifts Officer is an essential forward-facing member of the Purcell Marian Development team, responsible for advancing relationships with current and prospective donors. This position reports to the Director of Finance and works in collaboration with the Director of Development, Principal/CEO and Board of Trustees of Purcell Marian High School to achieve our strategic goals.

Position Objectives:
Working in close collaboration with the Director of Development and Principal/CEO to develop, solicit, and execute development strategies, the Major & Planned Gifts Officer is responsible for advancing relationships with current and prospective donors including alumni, family, and corporate relationships, as well as foundations. The primary focus is meeting and working with donors and prospects with significant giving capacity (5-figure and up) to accomplish their giving objectives in the form of annual giving, major and planned gifts.

As Purcell Marian High School’s first Major & Planned Gifts Officer you will design, develop and implement our major gift program and this position is responsible for managing and cultivating relationships with existing major gift prospects, as well as identifying new prospects.

The Major & Planned Gift Officer will engage in and be responsible for all aspects of the donor development cycle including donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgment, ongoing partnership and stewardship. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop an annual plan to identify, qualify and cultivate prospects; solicit and close major and planned gifts
  • Make direct, face-to-face solicitations with focus on securing five-figure or more major gifts
  • Work closely with our Development and Finance team to develop a moves management process in an effort to develop strategies for donor engagement and prospects
  • Lead the Board of Trustees, Principal/CEO and other influential alumni to engage in the cultivation and solicitation of prospects
  • Work closely with Director of Development and other stakeholders to identify annual, major and planned giving prospects for funding opportunities
  • Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, utilizing data analytics to identify and engage prospects and current donors
  • Document prospect visits / meaningful contacts with donors to achieve coordinated communication with all stakeholders in the relationship-building process
  • With Director of Development, develop, write, and craft comprehensive solicitation proposals to support key funding initiatives
  • With the Director of Development and Director of Communications/Marketing, develop materials for planned legacy program for Purcell Marian High School
  • Implement planned legacy program including identifying strong prospects, and proactive engagement of alumni/supporters who have already named Purcell Marian High School in their plans
  • With Board of Trustees, Director of Development, Finance Director, Director of Communications & Marketing and Principal / CEO, begin planning for 100-year anniversary campaign including identifying strategic fundraising goals, branding and communication, and establishing campaign chairs and funding priorities
  • Actively and visibly support major school goals and activities where major donors, stakeholders and prospective students will be in attendance, such as (but not limited to) student recruiting and retention events Open House, major athletic milestones, significant alumni reunion events, Hall of Fame dinner, Grand Event gala, etc.
  • Provide regular quantitative reports to school leadership team, and Board of Directors regarding short and long-term fundraising goals, results, and challenges

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3-5 years’ progressive responsibility experience in nonprofit or school development/advancement or sales/marketing role
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
  • Knowledge of Catholic schools, long-term development planning, prospect management and strategic engagement principles 
  • Purcell Marian alumni encouraged to apply, alumni affiliation not required for position
  • A strong team player, demonstrated self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills, requiring minimal supervision
  • Possesses the ability to work in a deadline driven and customer-service focused environment
  • Experience and skill in Salesforce or related donor databases is a plus 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Suite
  • Strong speaking, communication and interpersonal skills with keen attention to detail 
  • Comfortability in working with diverse ethnic, racial and religious backgrounds of the student body, alumni base and broad community
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance
  • This Position may require occasional travel and includes some evening and weekends
