Dear Purcell Marian Community,
I am honored to introduce myself as your Principal. I grew up in Hamilton, Ohio, where I attended Badin High School before pursuing higher education at the College of Mt. St. Joseph and Xavier University.
My journey in education began at Hillcrest Training School, the high school for the Hamilton County Juvenile Court System, where I had the privilege of working under former Purcell Marian Principal, Dennis Johnson. After three years at Hillcrest, I transitioned to a small charter school in Roselawn, where I taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grade math and science.
Five years into my teaching career, I pursued a Master’s Degree in Special Education, which also included a pathway for Principal Licensure. During this time, I began coaching football at Purcell Marian. When my school closed in 2017, I knew my next position had to be at “The Castle.” Principal Andy Farfsing brought me on board as a teaching aide in the Special Education program at Purcell Marian. By November of the same year, I was promoted to Director of Student Support Services, a role I embraced until March 2022, when I was appointed Assistant Principal.
As I step into my 8th year at Purcell Marian, I am deeply honored and blessed to take on the role of Principal. I am committed to upholding the proud traditions that have been built over the years, and I look forward to working closely with each of you to continue fostering an environment of excellence and opportunity for our students.
I sincerely appreciate the contributions that every member of our community makes to support our students. It is my highest priority to ensure that every student who walks through our halls recognizes the incredible gift, opportunity, and tradition that comes with being a part of our school.
Thank you for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Ian Goddard
